DAY 1 – DEPARTURE FROM BOKSBURG → JOURNEY TO SANI PASS

Morning – Departure & Scenic Drive

Meet your ACT Tours representative and fellow travellers at Pick n Pay Towers, East Rand Mall (Boksburg), before departing toward the Southern Drakensberg. Convenient pickups can be arranged along the route at:
• OR Tambo International Airport
• Heidelberg – Engen One Stop
• Harrismith – N3 Midway Stop

Travel through expansive farmlands, the rolling foothills of the Drakensberg, and past picturesque Sterkfontein Dam, offering a first glimpse of the scenic landscapes that define this region.

Midday – Lunch in Harrismith

Stop for lunch at one of the local restaurants in Harrismith (lunch for own account). Take time to stretch your legs and enjoy the crisp mountain atmosphere.

Afternoon – Hotel Check-In

Continue toward the foothills of the Drakensberg and check into your lodge by late afternoon. Settle into your comfortable room and take in the peaceful mountain surroundings. Spend some time unwinding — enjoy the gardens, sit beside the fire, or simply immerse yourself in the serenity.

Evening – Dinner & Relaxation

A hearty dinner is served at the lodge. Afterward, enjoy a restful evening as you prepare for your high-altitude adventure along the iconic Sani Pass.

DAY 2 – SANI PASS 4×4 ADVENTURE INTO LESOTHO

Morning – Ascent to the Highlands

After breakfast, meet your professional mountain guide from Sani Pass Tours. Board a 4×4 vehicle for an unforgettable ascent up the world-famous Sani Pass.
Starting at 1,500m above sea level, the pass zigzags up to 2,874m. Along the way, enjoy a series of scenic stops — perfect for capturing dramatic cliffs, vast valleys, and winding trails.

Crossing into Lesotho

Cross through the border into Lesotho, with your guide assisting in all passport formalities.
Visit a traditional Basotho village, where you’ll meet community members and learn about daily life, crafts, foods, and the cultural heritage of the Highlands.

Midday – Lunch at Sani Mountain Lodge

Enjoy lunch at the legendary Sani Mountain Lodge (Highest Pub in Africa), with sweeping panoramic views across the Drakensberg (lunch at own expense).

Afternoon – Highland Activities

Optional excursions include short scenic walks or a pony trek through the Highlands (own account), offering further immersion into the natural beauty and lifestyle of the region.

Evening – Overnight at Sani Mountain Lodge

Check in for your overnight stay high in the mountains. After dinner, relax beside the fireplace and reflect on your day while surrounded by crisp air, clear skies, and tranquil beauty.

DAY 3 – EXPLORING THE HIGHLANDS

Morning – Scenic Leisure

Wake to the quiet serenity of the mountains. Enjoy breakfast at Sani Mountain Lodge before spending the morning at leisure — take a gentle hike, explore the landscape, or unwind at your own pace.

Midday – Lunch at Leisure

Lunch is at own account. Choose to dine at the lodge or take a light picnic into the surrounding mountain scenery.

Afternoon – Return to South Africa

At approximately 13:30, reunite with your guide for the scenic 4×4 descent back down Sani Pass. Enjoy final photo stops before crossing back into South Africa.
Arrive at your lodge mid-afternoon and check in. Spend the remainder of the day relaxing — cool off in the pool, wander the grounds, or browse local crafts.

Evening – Dinner & Reflection

Dinner is served at the lodge — a relaxed opportunity to share stories, photographs, and highlights from your highland experiences.

DAY 4 – RETURN TO BOKSBURG

Morning – Scenic Departure

After breakfast, check out and enjoy a comfortable drive back through the Drakensberg foothills. Stop at Sterkfontein Dam for a final look at the panoramic views and to stretch your legs.

Afternoon – Arrival
