From guided sunset safaris to self-drive exploration, this adventure promises both tranquillity and exhilaration in South Africa’s untamed bushveld.
DAY 1 – JOURNEY TO MARAKELE & SUNSET SAFARI
Your journey begins at ACT Tours HQ in Boksburg, where you meet your driver and fellow travellers before departing comfortably into the bushveld.
En Route Pick-Ups:
• Midrand — Engen Big Bird Service Station (N1)
• Pretoria — Menlyn Park Shopping Centre or Hatfield Gautrain Station
• Bela-Bela — Warmbaths Total Petroport (breakfast at own expense)
• Thabazimbi — Shell Garage (Town Centre)
Arrive at your accommodation inside Marakele National Park and check in.
Take a moment to settle in and enjoy the tranquillity of the surrounding wilderness.
Lunch will be taken at a suitable local spot (own expense).
As evening approaches, embark on a SANParks-led sunset safari — a 3-hour guided drive offering your first chance to encounter elephants, rhinos, lions and other magnificent wildlife as dusk settles over the bushveld.
Return to the lodge for a wholesome dinner and a peaceful evening under star-lit skies.
DAY 2 – FULL-DAY SELF-DRIVE SAFARI EXPLORATION
Begin with breakfast at your accommodation before departing on a full-day self-drive safari through Marakele National Park.
Highlights include:
• Lenong Lookout — offering sweeping views of the Waterberg Mountains
• Scenic picnic spots for a relaxed lunch (own expense)
• Ample wildlife viewing opportunities along expansive plains and mountain passes
After a rewarding day in nature, return to your lodge for dinner and a restful evening surrounded by the sounds of the bush.
DAY 3 – BREAKFAST & RETURN JOURNEY
Enjoy one final breakfast in the tranquillity of the park before checking out.
Begin your journey home with drop-offs at the same locations as pick-up.
